This weekend’s 7th Del Mar Nationals is the biggest ever! The sun-drenched Del Mar Fairgrounds is packed to the limit with over 2,500 of the world’s finest rods, customs and classics. The event remains open today until 5pm and will re-open Sunday from 8am to 3pm. The final awards ceremony is scheduled for 2:22pm tomorrow inside the world famous Del Mar paddock area.
Speaking of awards, the top five 2007 Street Rod d’Elegance candidates have been selected. The final winner will be announced tomorrow at the awards ceremony. With over 175 cars to choose from (the d'Elegance is selected only from rods displaying indoors here), it wasn’t an easy task but the selection committee has indeed whittled down the field to five finalists. The d’Elegance award is designed to honor a gorgeous, elegant street rod of 1948 and earlier vintage. It has been selected every year by Goodguys since 1991.
