Project CleanAir ’55 Goes Red!

Project CleanAir ’55 – the emissions legal ’55 Chevy convertible Grand Prize Giveaway Car for the 2011 event season is making giant strides towards completion!

The car, designed by Hermance Design, is scheduled to make its grand debut at the Goodguys 2nd Spring Nationals March 11-13 next spring in Scottsdale, Arizona. The car spent the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays at Kenny Davis Hot Rods where Kenny and his father applied the rich red PPG paint. It’s looking stellar!

It’s already been quite a build. Rodger Lee and his team at Ironworks Speed and Kustom in Bakersfield spent the entire spring and summer months of 2010 fabricating and mating the Experi-metal body to their own chassis. After the Davis boys finish massaging the body and trim it’s off to Tracy Weaver’s Recovery Room for upholstery before heading back West for some more final massaging at Ironworks.

The car will be brought to Sacramento this spring to work with the California State titling and emission department to show how the process of getting this type of vehicle legally titled and on the road in California.

Both Rodger and Kenny have been updating a build thread over at the popular message board To check out the thread, which dates from May of 2010 and continues throughout the entire build, click this link!
