Karen Leisinger will drive the "Crusher" '70 Camaro representing Summit Racing Equipment in the Goodguys 2012 Sponsor Shootout AutoCross Saturday, July 7th.

The 2nd annual Goodguys Sponsor Shootout AutoCross will be held Saturday, July 7th @ 9am at the Ohio Expo Center in conjunction with the Goodguys 15th PPG Nationals July 6-8 in Columbus, OH. All 12 Goodguys AutoCross sponsors (Afco, Autometer, BF Goodrich, Detroit Speed, Hurst Shifters, Jet Hot, Optima Batteries, Popular Hot Rodding, Ridetech, Roadster Shop, Rocket Wheels and Summit Racing Equipment) will field entries in the competition.

The competition format for the Shootout, which has been moved to Saturday this year in Columbus, is a 12 car elimination ladder featuring 2 car pairings. Based on the 12 entries qualifying, the winner will end up needing to make 4 winning laps around the course. The event is generating a lot of buzz throughout the AutoCross community. “The recognition and bragging rights associated with being the winner of the Sponsor Shootout is a major feather in the cap for these great sponsors,” said Ed Capen of Goodguys. “It’s going to be a great event with fierce competition.

During the coming weeks we’ll take a look at each driver and their competition entry.

Here’s a look at the Summit Racing team car and driver. Representing Summit Racing Equipment will be the “Crusher” – Dave & Karen Leisinger’s silver ’70 Camaro. Karen will do the driving in the ‘Shootout. The Crusher is all business when it comes to power and handling. A 700 horsepower LSR built by Warren Johnson Racing is backed by a billet aluminum Gearstar 400 transmission. The car rides on Detroit Speed suspension with BOZE Wheels and KDW rubber.

With Karen at the wheel, the car won the Street Machine class at the 2011 Colorado Nationals AutoCross.  The “Crusher” has finished in the top half of the field at all Goodguys AutoCross races it’s competed at.
