The Goodguys 2013 Fred Zimmerman Memorial Hot Rod Week schedule has been confirmed! This year’s Hot Rod Week takes place Monday, August 19th through Thursday, August 22nd. Four big days of guided driving tours to shops and places of interest in the San Francisco Bay Area and other close by regions in Northern California is what it’s all about! Hot Rod Week serves as a fun activity for locals as well as out of town visitors attending the annual West Coast Nationals in Pleasanton. Everybody is welcome to come along!

No registration is required and there is no fee! Just show up at the Pleasanton Hilton at 8am each morning (Mon 8/19 through Thurs 8/22), get a tour map and head off with the pack to join the Hot Rod Week Fun! All tours leave the back parking lot of the Hilton at 8:30am sharp!

Monday 8/19 – Sacramento Area (Monday tour leader: Ed Burgess This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. )
Hot Rod Week 2012 opens with an 80 mile trip up to California’s Capital City! The first stop will be a visit with the shop of chassis guru Chris Alston and the gang at Chassisworks to see what they’re up to. Then it’s over to exhaust experts Flowmaster and their West Sacramento facility. We’ll round out day one with a stop at the spacious and impressive California Automobile Museum (formerly the Towe Auto Museum).

Tuesday 8/20 – South Bay/Peninsula (Tuesday tour leader: Sal Riele This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. )
Hot Rod Week’s second day begins at hot rodding’s Mary Prankster Dennis Varni’s collection. Who knows what we’re in store for with Mr Varni but you can bet it will be fun and you’ll see some very rare and cool stuff! From Varni’s we’ll head up the peninsula to Joe “Sparky” Bullock’s place – well known as “Sparky’s Hot Rod Garage.” Here you’ll see all kinds of show cars, race cars and memorabilia in a spectacular setting. We’ll then end the day with a stop in South San Francisco at Roy Brizio Street Rods for a look at one of the country’s premier hot rod factories.

Wednesday 8/22 – North Bay Area (Wednesday tour leader: Terry Freeman This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. )
The lush North Bay Area is our day three destination and it’s going to be a very special day. Stop #1 will be the spectacular private collection of Steve and Glenda Castelli in Windsor. From there we’ll head to Cotati Speedshop (the home of former Goodguys Trendsetter Zane Cullen) in Santa Rosa to see what projects they’ve got going. We’ll round out the day with a stop in the town of Cotati at the New Metal Kustoms shop. These guys specialize in sheet metal fabrication and design of masterful quality!

Thursday 8/23 – East Bay (Thursday tour leader: Bill Spaulding This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. )
We’ll close out the Goodguys 2013 Fred Zimmerman Memorial Hot Rod Week with a tour of some points of interest all within 30 miles of Pleasanton. We’ll start the day with a drive up I-680 to Rankin Performance Machine to check out their well-stocked engine shop and how they make horsepower! Then it’s off to the spectacular Blackhawk Automotive Museum (where the late Fred Zimmerman worked for years as a docent) before finishing up the week one block away from Goodguys World Headquarters at Lazze Inc where they shape metal the old fashioned way! Lazze himself will be on hand to demonstrate metal shaping to Hot Rod Week participants!

Friday, August 23rd through Sunday August 25th it’s time for the Goodguys 27th West Coast Nationals presented by Flowmaster – long known as the “corwn jewel” of all Goodguys events. We hope to see you on Hot Rod Week or at the West Coast Nationals!
