Last weekend’s 8th Nashville Nationals was a success despite the moist atmospheric conditions to open the weekend! Friday’s event was warm and soggy with showers throughout the day but Saturday and Sunday were great with dry pavement, big crowds, cool cars, cool people and good times! The event finished on an up note with about a five-percent increase in show cars. LP Field was in pristine condition making it nice for the participants and all attendees!
Rapidly becoming one of the favorite events on the annual Goodguys circuit, the Nashville Nationals offers participants a great event and venue within walking distance of one of America’s liveliest cities. The food and music scene in Nashville is fantastic and it’s all within a 10 minute walk from LP Field!
With Bobby Alloway handling the Goodguys Builder’s Choice awards – you know the cars were tip top! In fact – we saw several Ridler contenders shown outdoors for the first time this season. To see who won what, click here for the complete award winner list.
The Nashville AutoCross course is a riot! Dozens of the nation’s PRO drivers flocked to LP Field, many putting on a smoke show the fans won’t soon forget! When all the smoke cleared – only 6 class winners were left atop the podium. They included:
PRO Class Winner – Roger Burman – ‘70 Camaro 35.55
Hot Rod Winner – Lee Thompson – ‘36 Chevy 47.43
Shootout & Street Machine Winner – Tom McBride – ‘67 Camaro 36.706
Truck Winner – Jeff Schwartz – 49 Chevy 39.343
All American Sunday Winner – Greg Schnieder – 2010 Mustang
All in all it was a great weekend of southern style hot roddin! We’d like to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you who came out to enjoy the Goodguys 8th Nashville Nationals! We’ll look forward to seeing you for next year’s 9th edition!
