The Goodguys 2013 AutoCross Finals Shootout is shaping up to be “THE” event of the year for cone chasers! The AutoCross Finals Shootout, to be held Saturday, November 16th at Westworld in Scottsdale is a single elimination AutoCross tournament featuring the fastest Goodguys AutoCross cars of the year in a cut-throat, winner-take-all asphalt battle.
Only three events remain as qualifiers to get into the Finals Shootout. Those events include the Goodguys 3rd Speedway Nationals Sept 20-22 in Indianapolis, the 21st Lone Star Nationals Oct 4-6 in Ft Worth, TX, and the 20th Southeastern Nationals Oct 25-27 in Charlotte. The car with the quickest lap at those three events will automatically get a spot in the Finals Shootout. The final way to earn a spot in the Finals Shootout is a one-day bonanza on Friday, November 15thin Scottsdale, AZ. Goodguys will take the quickest four-cars of the 16th Southwest Nationals Friday AutoCross and add them to the Finals Shootout.
Once all 15 finalists are determined Friday evening November 15th, Goodguys will then take the top 9 PRO class drivers and add them to the Shootout field to make the 24-car field for the 2013 AutoCross Finals Shootout!
Glancing at the list of those already in and the top PRO class drivers vying for the 9 automatic berths, it’s quite obvious the field is lacking Ford and Mopar entries! The most likely blue oval representatives will be California’s Mike Maier and Indiana’s Bret Voelkel but those guys will have their hands full with all the bow-tie brigade!
Goodguys will be paying the top four places of the Finals Shootout with $3000.00 going to the winner, $1250.00 going to the runner-up, $500.00 going to 3rd place and $250.00 going to 4th place. The winner will also receive a customized Snap-on Tool Box (Valued at $7000.00), a gorgeous billet aluminum trophy as well as being named one of the year-end Goodguys Terrific Twelve award winners. BF Goodrich will also hand out gift certificates for a set of new tires to the top four finishers. Sunday.
