The Goodguys Texas Road Tour is underway! A spirited pack of 30 plus hot rodders driving every kind of hi-performance machine imaginable, left Goodguys World Headquarters in Pleasanton, California today under sunny skies with the Lone Star State in their sights. The gang had lunch at our offices then blasted off down Interstate 680 to begin their 7-day journey.
The 1,969 mile driving tour lands at Texas Motor Speedway Thursday, October 3rd in advance of the Goodguys 21st Lone Star Nationals Oct 4-6 at Texas Motor Speedway
As you can see from the pictures, the tour features numerous “all-star” cars including George Poteet’s Street Machine of the Year-winning ’69 Torino, Harold Chapman’s America’s Most Beautiful Street Rod-winning ’33 Ford roadster, Jonathan Goolsby in the Lokar ‘69 Camaro, Jimmy Shaw’s ‘67 Nova, Sid Tracy’s 69 Firebird and many others! Goodguys Founder & Chairman Gary Meadors (’48 Chrysler woodie) and Ridetech’s Bret Voelkel (driving his ’71 Pontiac GTO convertible) are also along for the ride.
The adventurous 7-day road tour travels through California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Along the way, the tour will be stopping at private car collections such as those of Dennis Varni, John Lawson Denny Cissel, Mike Harrah, Pense Richmond, Dennis Wise, Mark Warrick and Wayne Davis.
Shop visits along the route will include Campbell Auto Restoration, Premier Street Rods, Airaid and, Mild to Wild Classics. Historic stops along the tour will include Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace, Ludlow Café on Route 66, the Route 66 Auto Musuem and the Cadillac Ranch. On Sunday evening, Sept 29th – Lake Havasu City will block off their main street for a special “Goodguys Night” car show extravaganza featuring the cars and stars of the Texas Road Tour.
Once at Texas Motor Speedway for the Goodguys 21st Lone Star Nationals the stars and their cars will be featured in a special parking area.
