The Goodguys Texas Road Tour had a great first three day run over the weekend! The weather has been great and tour leader Ed Capen reports nobody is having mechanical trouble!
After departing Goodguys Headquarters Friday, The gang stopped at Dennis Varni’s Speed Nymph Garage in San Jose, CA then went to Campbell Auto Restoration Friday afternoon before stopping for the night in Morgan Hill.
Saturday dawned clear and bright with a first stop at historic Casa De Fruta near Hollister, CA. From there – the gang took the famed “Pacheco Pass” highway 152 over to Interstate 99 (California’s original central valley freeway) and stopped in Fresno to see the amazing collection of John Lawson (featuring hundreds of early Fords and other cool stuff) before stopping for the evening at Buck Owens historic “Crystal Palace” Honkey Tonk in Bakersfield.
Sunday was by far the busiest tour day so far with a 300 mile trip from Bakersfield to the Arizona desert. Sunday’s stops included Premier Street Rods, the private collections of Denny Cissel and Mike Harrah before landing downtown Lake Havasu City for the spectacular Sunday night Street Meet! The Havasu locals treated all the Texas Road Tour participants like rock stars with prime reserved parking and special announcements!
This week the tour keeps rolling with Monday stops in Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona. Check back tomorrow morning for a recap of Monday’s Goodguys Texas Road Tour action!
