It’s no secret that if you want to see the best custom cars in the west, you’ll need to get to the Goodguys 32nd All American Get-Together March 29 & 30 at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds. It’s in Pleasanton that over 40 of the finest custom sleds in the country will be displayed together inside the Young California Building creating a spectacle of swoopy fenders, shimmering chrome and candy colored dreams.
Their aim? To win the Goodguys 2014 Mother’s Custom of the Year award. The award is part of the Goodguys Top 12 program, which awards supreme automotive excellence in, you guessed it, 12 categories.
Goodguys defines customs for this particular award as an American production car from 1936 through 1972 vintage. The basic criteria states the award is designed to simply honor an exceptional custom car. The award is open to all styles and genres of customs (from traditional to modern).
The winner will be crowned Sunday afternoon, March 30th during the awards ceremony. One of the coolest traditions of the event and this award is seeing the top 5 finalists all displayed outdoors on Sunday, their candy colors sparkling in brilliant sunshine.
This year’s field of contestants is deep and large. Here’s a look at some of the contenders:
