Joining the existing Gazette editorial team of Publisher Travis Weeks, Features Editor Brandon Flannery, Art Director Kevin Reynolds and Production Manager Gaea McLaughlin are industry veterans Ashley Majeski Smissen, Todd Ryden and Henry DeKuyper.
For Ashley Majeski Smissen, joining the Gazette team provides another chance to work in one of her favorite industries. As the former Senior Editor of Hotrod & Restoration magazine, she produced B2B content specific to helping hot rod shops grow and played an integral role in producing the annual Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show in Indianapolis. She is the author of two entertainment industry books: “Inside AGT: The Untold Stories of America’s Got Talent” and “Teen Mom Confidential,” and currently works as a contributing writer for Today.com Entertainment. In her new role as Media Editor, she will write features on rod and custom industry legends as well as company profiles, industry news and more.
Regularly published performance automotive journalist Todd Ryden joins the Gazette team as Tech & Product Editor. For decades, Ryden has written tech and “how-to” articles for magazines and some of the industry’s leading websites. Also a published author, Ryden is perhaps best known for his prowess with automotive wiring and ignition systems. His book “How to Build High-Performance Ignition Systems” is available through Amazon.com. In his new role as Tech & Product Editor, Ryden will cover a variety of topics and tech insights aimed at hot rod enthusiasts.
Award-winning photojournalist Henry DeKuyper has joined the Gazette as Feature Photographer. A 25-year veteran of performance automotive photography, DeKuyper cut his teeth at VW Trends magazine in the 1980s and 1990s. In the last 15 years, he’s served as one of the lead photographers covering all aspects of motorsports for Source Interlink Media – a position he recently departed. On the Gazette team, DeKuyper will focus mainly on cover shots, vehicle features and event coverage.
