The Goodguys Racing ’69 Camaro has a brand new look to go along with its long history as one of the quickest and fastest Pro Mods in the West. At last weekend’s NHRA Sonoma Nationals, Goodguys President Marc Meadors took the bright yellow supercharged Camaro to a career best run of 5.74/257mph at Sears Point Raceway.
The run established both elapsed time and mph benchmarks for the Pleasanton, California based team. The Goodguys gang was part of a 6-car exhibition program put together for the NHRA by the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mods group.
Out of the three Sonoma Nationals exhibition runs, Meadors carded a 5.78/254, a 6.33/175 (mechanical problems) and the stellar 5.74/257 during the weekend finale.
Though it was an exhibition, the experience proved valuable for the team.”Getting a chance to run in front of thousands of fans on an NHRA national event-prepared track was a blessing,” Marc Meadors said. “The fan support was great and the track gave us the perfect conditions to pour the ‘coals to it’ to see where we’re at on the tune up. We’re heading to Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho in two weeks for the 42nd annual Nightfire Nationals. The career-best Sears Point runs have us confident we can go to Boise and bring back the Wally.”
The 42nd annual Pepsi Nightfire Nationals run Thursday, August 7th through Sunday, August 10th. Fans can follow along with all the action by visiting www.westcoastoutlawpromods.com
