Goodguys Friday Nite Vintage Drags

For over three decades now, Goodguys has been a leading promoter in the realm of vintage drag racing. That legacy continues this 2014 with three big Friday Nite Drag celebrations! Pavement pounding, gear-grinding excitement with a vintage/hot rod flair is what Goodguys Friday Nite Drags are all about!

This year two vintage drag events will be joined by an all new Friday Nite event at Lucas Oil Raceway @ Indianapolis! It marks the return to the famed Indy drag strip for Goodguys after a 5 year hiatus. The new Indy drags are different from the Columbus, and Puyallup drags in that they will feature all years, makes and models of American drag cars – a first for Goodguys.

While all three drag races are similar, the hours are slightly different as are the race classes. Please read the information below carefully and let us know if you have any questions!

2014 Top 12

Goodguys are proud to present the 2014 “Top 12” awards. These special awards recognize the nation’s finest cars and trucks as well as the best AutoCross racer in the land. New this year – is a change to the selection process of the Truck of the Year Late category. The six regional finalists for the Truck of the Year Late award are now required to attend the 17th Southwest Nationals November 14-16 at Westworld in Scottsdale, Arizona where the overall winner will then be selected on Saturday, Nov 15th. The finalists for Truck of the Year late must be present in Scottsdale to be eligible to win.

The Street Rod of the Year, Street Machine of the Year, Hot Rod of the Year, Street Rod d’ Elegance, America’s Most Beautiful Street Rod and Custom of the Year will be selected at their traditional events. For these awards, the selection committee will be made up of industry experts and Goodguys Staff members. Each member of the selection committee places his picks in order of preference. His first choice will receive 5 points, second choice 4 points and so on. The winner is then determined by whoever receives the most total points. In the case of a tie, all committee members recast their votes for the two entrants involved in the tie.

The Truck of the Year (early – through ’52) Truck of the Year (late – ’53 through ’72), Custom of the Year, Muscle Car of the Year, and the Muscle Machine of the Year will be selected by using the regional “finalist” method. These awards will be selected by the Goodguys staff from a group of finalists chosen from various events in different regions of the US. This method benefits participants of all regions from across the country - east to west, north to south - instead of limiting the award to a certain region and certain event. Each “Top 12” award and how the winner is selected are explained in detail below:

All award winners will receive:
National bragging rights, a beautiful Billet aluminum award, a Custom Wrapped Snap-On Tool Box, a full color feature in the Goodguys Gazette and Yearbook, announcement on www.good-guys.com and an exclusive invitation and travel accommodations to the season-ending Goodguys 17th Southwest Nationals, November 14-16 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
