One of the best kickoff parties of the year returns Thursday, May 15th to Advanced Plating in Nashville, Tennessee! Kicking off the Goodguys 9th Nashville Nationals May 16-18 at LP Field, Advanced Plating’s Kickoff Party always has top cars, great food, live music and facility tours!

There’s been a lot happening at Advanced Plating recently. In addition to plating some of the industry’s top cars, they’ve recently rolled out a complete redesign of their website which includes an all-new online store! Click here to check it out!

This year’s Nashville Nationals Kickoff Party runs from 4-8pm. Maps will be handed out at event registration. Attendees will enjoy Nashville Style BBQ, great live music, and guided facility tours which include a firsthand look at the painstaking detail that goes into plating vintage car parts!

Another highlight of the open house are the incredible feature cars that will be on display inside their facility! This year’s crop of cars include two Great Eight Ridler award finalist, an America’s Most Beautiful Roadster contender, a Salt Flat’s lakester, a pair of SEMA feature cars, and the debut of a new ride by Greening Auto Company. All of which feature plated finishes by Advanced Plating.

    A brand new experience is on tap this weekend in Kissimmee, Florida as Goodguys proudly presents the 1st All American Nationals at Osceola Heritage Park. The multi-use complex is groomed and ready to host Goodguys and over 1,500 American made and American powered show cars of all years, makes and models! Everyone is welcome to bring their show car out to the All American Nationals this weekend!

    Motorsports artist, publisher, public speaker and recent International Drag Racing Hall of Fame inductee Kenny Youngblood, will make an exclusive appearance at the Goodguys 17th PPG Nationals July 11-13 in Columbus, Ohio to illustrate and hand out FREE custom race car and hot rod drawings to event attendees. Youngblood will be on hand each of the 3 event days, splitting his time between the PPG Automotive Refinish booth and the Goodguys merchandise booth inside the Bricker Building at the Ohio Expo Center.

    The man behind the famous slogan “Blood Did It” and the “Father of modern day race car designs,” Youngblood brings over 4 decades of automotive and racing artistry to the table. He’s also played an integral role in hot rodding. Kenny was the graphic designer of ZZ Top’s “Eliminator Coupe” coming up with those famous interlocking Z’s on the side of the coupe as well as on the band’s “Eliminator” album.

    In Columbus, he will do personalized, hand-drawn 11×17 color posters for fans, free of charge for anyone who wants one courtesy of Goodguys and PPG. “I’ve always wanted to come do a Goodguys event,” said Youngblood, now a Las Vegas area resident. “Hot rodding and vintage drag racing are my thing. From what I hear – this is the biggest Goodguys event of the year so it will be fun to be part of the action. I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing the nation’s top show cars.”

    Pleasanton, CA – Goodguys Rod & Custom Association proudly welcomes three new members to its publication – the Goodguys Gazette. Joining the existing Gazette editorial team of Publisher Travis Weeks, Features Editor Brandon Flannery, Art Director Kevin Reynolds and Production Manager Gaea McLaughlin are industry veterans Ashley Majeski Smissen, Todd Ryden and Henry DeKuyper.

    For Ashley Majeski Smissen, joining the Gazette team provides another chance to work in one of her favorite industries. As the former Senior Editor of Hotrod & Restoration magazine, she produced B2B content specific to helping hot rod shops grow and played an integral role in producing the annual Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show in Indianapolis. She is the author of two entertainment industry books: “Inside AGT: The Untold Stories of America’s Got Talent” and “Teen Mom Confidential,” and currently works as a contributing writer for Today.com Entertainment. In her new role as Media Editor, she will write features on rod and custom industry legends as well as company profiles, industry news and more.

    Regularly published performance automotive journalist Todd Ryden joins the Gazette team as Tech & Product Editor. For decades, Ryden has written tech and “how-to” articles for magazines and some of the industry’s leading websites. Also a published author, Ryden is perhaps best known for his prowess with automotive wiring and ignition systems. His book “How to Build High-Performance Ignition Systems” is available through Amazon.com. In his new role as Tech & Product Editor, Ryden will cover a variety of topics and tech insights aimed at hot rod enthusiasts.

    Award-winning photojournalist Henry DeKuyper has joined the Gazette as Feature Photographer. A 25-year veteran of performance automotive photography, DeKuyper cut his teeth at VW Trends magazine in the 1980s and 1990s. In the last 15 years, he’s served as one of the lead photographers covering all aspects of motorsports for Source Interlink Media – a position he recently departed. On the Gazette team, DeKuyper will focus mainly on cover shots, vehicle features and event coverage.
