Music City USA never looked better. Under bright sunny skies with temps nearing 90 degrees, the best hot rods and custom cars in the south set up camp at Nissan Stadium today on the banks of the Cumberland River for our 13th annual Nashville Nationals. Has it really been that long? It seems we just started this great event. It must be true; time flies when you’re having fun and this event and this awesome city are all about fun.
While the stadium grounds were swarming with chrome and color, the best pre-’49 hot rods in the country were flogging their cars in a 150-mile boogie to Bowling Green, Kentucky and back for the Goodguys 2018 Tank’s Hot Rod of the Year competition. A field of over 30 cars rumbled down backroads before landing at Kentucky’s favorite drag strip, Beech Bend Raceway Park. Stops at Holley Performance Products and the National Corvette Museum added that much more fun to an epic day.
The event format is different this year being a Friday-Saturday event. With Mother’s Day on Sunday, the event was condensed to two jam-packed days getting off to a fast start today. To the South of the main show field, the vendor midway featured the finest speed merchants in the land and further south, the massive AutoCross course was thundering throughout the day. It was a frenetic pace!
The gates swing open tomorrow morning at 8am and stay open until the last flicker of daylight at 8pm. Bring your family and definitely bring your mom out for an early Ma’s Day present! For ticket prices, directions to Nissan Stadium and other helpful event details, bang it here.
