Friday May 12th – The Goodguys 2017 Music City Road Tour is underway! The first of two Road Tours this season kicked off in Phoenix, AZ today and over the course of the next week will end up in Nashville, TN at the Goodguys Nashville Nationals event on May 19-21.

Old friends and new met in Phoenix yesterday evening from throughout the country to kick-off the Music City Road Tour at fellow tour participant Jim Bridgewater’s home with the help of So-Cal Speed Arizona. It was a grand evening with excellent live music, tasty food and of course lots of BS’ing.

This morning the group met up at Baer Brakes for the first official stop of this week-long journey. We got a behind-the-scenes look inside Hal & Gabi’s facility with private tours while the employees were working at full speed pumping out parts and pieces that bring our hot rods to a safe stop.

After the good folks at Baer provided us with a delicious lunch we were off to stop two of the day which led us to Pense Richman’s collection. Pense’s collection is packed with everything a gear-head would want in their garage. From hot rods to exotics, bicycles to motorcycles we feasted our eyes on well over 30 motorized machines as well as plenty of memorabilia such as peddle cars, model cars, gas pumps and neon signs – Pense has all the goodies!

We then jetted over to see our friends at Brown’s Classic Auto who regularly host us when we roll into Scottsdale for our events. Once again, Brown’s swung open their doors and invited everyone in to check out the huge display of automobiles for sale which were on display in their outdoor parking lot.

Less than a quarter-mile from Brown’s was stop four of the day at Vintage Iron. Snacks and refreshments were provided as we wandered throughout Mark’s place. From engine building to complete car builds the Vintage Iron crew can, and were, doing it all.

Before we hit the open road for a scenic 150+ mile trip to the hotel for the evening we ended the day with a BANG! Dennis Wise’s Collection was the final stop on tap for Day 1 and what a place it was! From the moment we stepped foot into Dennis’ place we realized Dennis is all about supercharged horsepower. From his multiple early Ford blown hot rods to his ProCharged Buick Special, forced-induction was strapped on to almost every ride under his roof. But it wasn’t just high-horsepower hot rods in his collection, there was a paid of beautiful Packards, an awesomely restored firetruck, drag race cars, motorcycles, late model Corvette’s and much more. It got all us road warriors ready to unleash the power of our own rides on a beautiful drive through the Arizona mountains as we headed to the night’s hotel to settle in for the night.

As we gear up for Day 2 tomorrow we’re looking forward to more beautiful weather, picturesque photo-op’s, a day filled with awesome stops and a few more clicks on our odometers. Follow along throughout the day on our Goodguys Instagram page or check back this time tomorrow evening for Day 2’s recap.
