The 25th Summer Get Together held in our hometown at the Alameda County Fairgrounds proved to be just that – summer is here! With temperatures peaking at 95 today, it was a scorcher to say the least. The sun wasn’t the only thing bringing the heat as hot rods, muscle cars, pickups and customs filled the grounds making parking a premium.

Inside the main YCB Building were 50 Mighty Muscle cars on display showcasing heavy metal from the “Big 3” and more – both classics and modern machines. The pavement was pounded not only on the AutoCross track, but also over at the Festival Lot where the Tri-Valley Quarter Midgets, a Burnout Contest and the Freestyle MotoX stunt show wowed the crowds with plenty of action.

Add in the Nitro Thunderfest, the bustling kid’s area, Journey Unauthorized concert, a packed swap meet and cars for sale corral, plenty of vendors and more and day one of the Summer Get Together did not disappoint. Check out some of the rides we spotted today and be sure to come out or check back tomorrow for a full event gallery!
