By now you’re well aware of the change in cutoff years for Goodguys events in 2018. One of the benefits of shifting to a 1987-and-earlier platform will be to welcome ’73-’87 Chevy and GMC trucks, affectionately known as squarebodies by the legions of enthusiasts who build, personalize and drive these popular haulers. They’re sure to bring some fresh flavor and enthusiasm to Goodguys events in the new year.
As a special treat at the Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale this past November, Goodguys teamed up with Squarebody Syndicate to welcome scores of squarebody trucks to join in the sunny Arizona fun. This coincided perfectly with Dino’s Git Down, the casual, one-night-only gathering of Chevy and GMC trucks that happens once a year in Phoenix (check out the full feature on this happening on FuelCurve.com). With a Squarebody Syndicate booth in the vendor area and special parking for squarebody trucks, it was a perfect preview for the new Goodguys year break. Not only that, it was cool to see so many fine ’73-’87 trucks cruisin’ the grounds among the earlier American iron, and to have them welcomed with open arms by enthusiasts throughout the show.
The gallery below provides a small taste of the squarebody scene, and a good glimpse of some of the cool haulers you might see at Goodguys events across the country in 2018. Enjoy!
