While Veteran’s Day may have been Friday, November 11th – a star-spangled vibe of gratitude and appreciation for our freedom fighters ran right through the 27th annual Autumn Get-Together last weekend at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds. A full weekend of patriotism was on parade under ideal weather conditions as over 2,000 hot rodders of all generations filled the show grounds to celebrate cool cars and honor those who have sacrificed so much. Retired and active military alike flooded the event gates to join the party bringing the weekend crowd count north of 40,000! All military members were given a steep admission discount Saturday and 100% free admission Sunday. It was a feel-good finale as we wrapped up another year of getting together in Pleasanton.

The sea of American cars was a spectacle in itself but the weekend event was filled with special attractions around every corner. Inside the Young California building, a truck exhibit featured close to 75 specialty trucks and hot haulers ranging from sensational semis to rocker-dragging C/10’s. Speaking of C/10’s – the C/10 Club came out full force to party in Saturday’s Trick Truck Corral as the weekend’s featured Car Club. With chapters all over the west, these truck enthusiasts bring unparalleled energy and excitement!

Other specialty displays included elite concours cars and classics from the Blackhawk Museum, A Lowrider exhibit by our friends at Deadend Magazine, the Goodguys Cruiser-Rama bicycle display, the Pin Striper Panel Jam, which included a hearty donation from the stripers to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, and even an automotive art exhibit featuring hot rod related paintings, sculptures and more. The best part? All of the exhibits were included in the admission fee. It was like an automotive theme park!

For those seeking speed thrills, the Nitro Thunderfest offered up nitro-breathing fury as vintage dragsters came to life in the center of the fairgrounds. Getting up close to 3,000 horsepower fire-breathing racing machines never disappoints.

Four year old Carlos Hernandez had one of the coolest pedal cars we’ve ever seen!

Those familiar with Goodguys Get-Togethers know that further west on the paved lot lies automotive treasure of all kinds in the slammed swap meet. With one last chance to clean out the garage and sell off items before the holidays settle in, the horse tradin’ was intense. Just across the way, a fully stocked Cars 4 Sale Corral offered over 500 classic cars and specialty rods for sale. Project cars and some turn-key treats were stacked up as far as the eye could see.

Sunday’s spotlight was turned to the winner’s circle where the event’s top cars, trucks and cool cruisers filled the main lawn with chrome and color. Fans strolled through weekend winners snapping pictures and marveling at the awesome iron. If you want to see what’s hot in hot rodding, the winner’s circle is the place to spot trends and get ideas for that project you may be building or dreaming about.
