The hot rodding community lost a great one with the passing of Joanne Levering back on May 30th. Many Goodguys will recognize her picture and warm smile. Joanne was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother & aunt. She passed away peacefully at her home in Danville with her family by her side. She is survived by her loving husband Gary, daughters Tracy Swanson (Rob) and Sherri Holt (Tom), sister Joyce Adragna (Paul), brother Frank Crookes (Linda), step daughters Kim Pujol (Dan) and Jennifer Newkirk (Darrin), stepson Doug Levering, 10 grandchildren, Rob Jr., Raquel, Ashley, Amber, Alana, Kyle, Kailey, Jayden, Grace & Ealan, many nieces and nephews, and 3 grand dogs, Olive, Iris & Bubba.
She grew up in El Sobrante, CA and graduated from DeAnza High School in 1962. She worked for Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory for 25 years as an Administrator & retired from Alps Electric, San Jose in 2005. She was a resident of Danville, CA for the past 18 years. Joanne and her husband Gary enjoyed traveling to hot rod shows whenever possible! She was the proud owner of a ’33 Ford coupe and a full custom 1950 Copper Pearl Ford Sedan which had many thousands of road trip miles on it! After working part time for us here at Goodguys in the office, Joanne was the first woman to be recognized as a Rodders Rep for Good Guys Rod & Custom Assoc.
In recent years, she and husband Gary helped out the Goodguys team by helping select and organize awards at Pleasanton events. She was one of the kindest people you could ever meet and battled through her pain and declining health to still volunteer to help out at events. She was a woman dedicated to serving others and will be greatly missed by all.
