Hot Rodding and the Goodguys family lost a good one with the passing of Fresno’s Roger Hart on November 1st, 2013. Hart was a fixture at Goodguys events since the very beginning and had close ties with our founder and chairman Gary Meadors. Hart joined the Fresno Pan Draggers car club way back in 1957 and remained a member the rest of his life. He eventually founded Hart Enterprises, a street-rod component manufacturing business. During this period of time he also got into drag boat racing as a partner and owner. No matter whether it was hot rods or boats – Roger was good at building fast ones. Back in the mid-90s, Hart was given the task to convert the Meadors family 1950 Nash convertible into a real runner. He lowered the car and added a GM Vortec V6 motor turning it into a cool little hot rod. Roger was a fixture at Goodguys swap meets in Pleasanton, occupying the same spot for over two-decades. He was also a fixture in the camp grounds of Famoso Raceway during the Goodguys March Meets.
Roger is survived by Susan, his wife of 31 years; his daughters, Katie Morrison and her husband Mike Bierly, Lea Carson and her husband Kent, Debra Streight and her husband Robert, and Charlene Yeatts and her husband Bob; grandchildren, Katy Streight and Matthew Brotherton: and many close friends. Per Roger's wishes, there will be no service, and he will be buried at sea with his son, David Morrison. There will be a Celebration of Rogers Life at 2706 W, Ashlan Ave, on Sunday, November 10, 2013, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Remembrances may be made to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, 804 W. Diamond Ave., Suite 210; Gaithersburg, MD 20878; or Ronald McDonald House of Fresno; or Big Brothers Big Sister of Central California.
